Does anyone have any idea what might be happening here? Been on PP for many years and this is the first time anything like this has happened. Knowing the hovering capability of P-8's is limited I became suspicious. ![]() as it approached my house the BE20 continued its approach to YYC and the 'P-8' sat stationary for a couple of minutes. Couple of days ago I had a USN P-8 'following' a BE20 on approach for 60 miles then. The 'shadow' aircraft always shows up in blue (ACARS I assume). FYI - its not always AE683C that comes up as the 'mil' Mode S. Just now I had AE683C on screen again but as Air Canada 127 and in a completely different part of the province but, for the first time, not 'shadowing' another aircraft. The Mode S code for the 'US mil' aircraft is AE683C but it shows the same call sign (Virgin 106) and the same height, direction, speed and squawk code. The screen grab attached shows Virgin 106 with another 'aircraft' just behind it. In the past week I have been getting indications on Planeplotter that US military aircraft are in my area (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) but all of these seem to be false and looking at the PP screen I always see the 'US mil' aircraft just behind a civilian.
